A day of pain and gain

It’s my day off because baby is due for his second dose of Rotavirus and third dose of Hepatitis B vaccinations. As usual, the poor little thing cried when pricked with the needle. I stood as far away as possible while the daddy held and soothed him during the injection. I can never bear the look on his face and his sudden outburst from the pain he feels. If I can help it, I would wear ear-plugs to block out the sound of his cries! Fortunately he’s not a whiner, so as soon as the needle is removed, he stops crying and resumes his friendliness and playfulness almost immediately.

That was the painful part of the day, more for me than for him! The gains for the day came back in multi-folds, though. In the form of shopping!

These days, shopping = baby stuff. I find it a lot more fun and fulfilling than to shop for myself! How parenthood changes a woman…positively

Apart from buying the recommended Heinz Rice Cereals for baby, I found some good buys from Huggies. There’s rather good discounts for Huggies Ultra and Huggies Dry at Tesco. Huggies Ultra which normally retails for about RM47++ was going for RM35++ while Huggies Dry was on sale at RM32++. I grabbed 3 bags of them but this time, I learnt from my previous mistake. Instead of buying them all in his current size, I bought one bag in one size bigger in anticipation of him outgrowing them.

The other “gain” for the day is a surprise find of an infant toy by Fisher-Price called “Miracles & Milestones™ Select-a-Show Soother”. It soothes baby with classical music, sweet lullabies, or soft nature sounds while offering a scenic light show projected onto the ceiling or wall. It sells at RM129.90 but I found it for sale at RM66!
