A protective 1-year old, a grinning mummy

by Penny on September 21, 2008

When we got woken up by baby at an ungodly hour of 7am (mind you it’s a Sunday!), a thought suddenly entered my mind – my early to rise baby has changed our lives forever, no more sleeping in for the weekends! I groaned while the baby happily whacked my face to make sure I’m awake.

I finally sat up and he pointed to his bag of goodies – toys and books. I gave him the whole bag and he contentedly picked a toy at a time to play with. After a while, he decided the toys and books didn’t interest him so he climbed on me and sat on my lap. It was then that the father decided to wanna join in the family hug too. He leaned closer towards us but before we got any closer, my little one-year old pushed his father away, and then shook his little index finger at his father and exclaimed “No no no no!”.

The father tried several times more but he got the same responses, being pushed away and had a little finger wagging at him. I laughed till no end. It’s a form of cheap thrill, I know…but which mother wouldn’t be happy to know that her baby wants her all to himself? I’m the happiest mother in the world today! And you know what? I don’t even mind being woken up at 7am anymore!
