Baby can actually walk!!!

by Penny on September 30, 2008

I’m thrilled. I’m sure you can sense that. Let me share my story.

I’ve been trying to get my 1-year old to be on his own two feet, taking small steps at a time. Whilst he loves to “paddle” along and laughs each time I hold him up to “walk”, he doesn’t seem to be ready to walk on his own. He’d much rather crawl all over the place than to stand on his feet.

Last night he was unusually playful and we all sat around him while he moved about and played with his various toys. At one point, he got so super excited when he spotted a ball in the corner that he actually got up on his feet all by himself with so support, and to our utmost surprise, walked steadily for about 4 to 5 steps!

He can actually walk!!! Whenever I held him by the arm and led him to walk, he would always be walking tip toed. But when he walked on his own last night, we noticed that he walked flat on his little feet and he was actually very steady despite his outburst of excitement to reach the ball.

It’s quite weird isn’t it? So was it all by accident that he walked without realising it or he actually can do it but does not want to? In any case, he sure made a glowing mummy last night…

It’ll be a great form of exercise for a lazy butt like me…

I think by nature, it is skill and experience. Just like riding a bicycle, we keep trying until we know it. Baby, I think by nature should be the same.. lol.. :)

i saw i saw…now it is time for that thing they tie round a toddler’s back. Saw one the other day that looks like a back pack shaped as a soft toy poodle. Nice looking. DOes not remind you of it being that thing at all.

Fooi, I should think so too…but it’s real thrilling to see it for the first time. I still haven’t gotten over it! :D

Lazy, I bet you are still having that image in your mind how he took his first steps without knowing it :) I haven’t seen that thing around but good idea to start looking out for it seeing how he could out-walk any of us very soon!
