Perhaps now is the right time to introduce him to developmental or educational baby programs. Some months back while I was shopping for baby books, I came across a baby developmental DVD called Veggie Tales. I watched the colourful and lively program for a few minutes and was actually quite entertained by it! There were lots of singing and attractive movements of colours that are sure to capture a baby’s attention. The songs were interesting and the Veggie Tales characters would definitely help with training a child to love eating vegetables (hopefully)!

There are also some mothers at work who highly recommend the Baby Einstein series that consist of Baby Einstein, Baby Bach, Baby Beethovan, Baby Van Gogh and so forth. Each series touches on different developmental aspects of a baby – music, shapes, colours, etc. I have not watched these DVDs before, so I’m not sure what to expect yet. But I know of two parents who swear by these DVDs. You can find the Baby Einstein DVDs for sale at Planete Enfants.

I’m also wondering if Sesame Street is suitable at this stage, or should it be introduced at a later age? I’m not quite sure.
In any case, I think I will start with Veggie Tales and Baby Einstein. I wonder who would be more entertained by the DVDs, mummy or baby? =)

My son is 16 months old and has been watching both Baby Einstein and Sesame Street Old School (1969 – 1974) since he was about 9 months. Maybe a little too much because I’m in school and need time for homework. In any case, he loves both. I don’t think he is getting education out of it per say, but he loves the babies and puppets.
Hi Nancy. As long as he loves it, and is entertained by it, it works for both of you!
I’m definitely trying out Baby Einstein.
