Over the weekend we went to Mid Valley to find a salon for baby’s much needed haircut. We took a peek at Jantzen and I wasn’t too keen. I remember there was a salon that had all these kiddy rides as seats for the children to sit on while they had their hair tended to. I thought it was Thomas & Guy but as it turned out, I was mistaken. It’s actually A Cut Above.
Not only did they have the kiddy seats to offer, there was a large widescreen where they showed some cartoons. When we walked in there to enquire about baby’s haircut at the counter, I noticed how baby was immediately glued to the TV. I decided there and then that it was THE place because he could never sit still and the TV seemed to be doing the trick.
So I put him on the kiddy seat and held him as he was wrapped with a towel and the plastic cover to protect his clothes. He was fine until the lady started combing his hair. My son is rather fussy, he hates it when we wipe him on the mouth or face with a towel, or mess with his head (kisses are alright though, thank goodness!).
He protested the whole time, squirming every which way and I had to use my body to hold him in position while the lady quickly cut away. We requested that his hair should not be trimmed too much, so she did the best she could. The haircut was done in less than 5 minutes. Very little was trimmed, but at least he had the thick layers at the back of his head tapered off.
He was glad that it was over and we quickly brushed off the fine hairs all over his face and some on his clothes. I ended up the big gorilla, really, with most of his hair on my shoulders and arms. The haircut cost us RM25. Considering that it was such a quick job and not too much hair cut off, the service was a little bit expensive. But if given no other choice of a better salon, I think I will still return to A Cut Above for his next haircut.

Pebbles, it was only because we knew no other alternatives that had experience with kids…but you know what? After that haircut, we found one who has lots of it and my boy got a 2nd haircut!
