Baby’s food journal #3
by Penny on May 4, 2008
Last week while at babysitter’s baby had a taste of bananas. He wasn’t adverse to it even though it was steamed bananas. I don’t think this little boy would be averse to any food at the moment. I say this because he’s currently under medication to treat a mild viral infection and he doesn’t seem to mind the taste of the medicine! The first time we fed him the liquid medication, he didn’t protest but opened his mouth when we asked him to. However, the next day we thought he must’ve hated the taste of them because he protested a little bit and wasn’t opening his mouth. Funnily enough though, today he opened up when he saw the syringe and seemed to like the mixtures! What should I to make of this?!
Anyway, this weekend we’ve introduced some new food to him so this calls for Food Journal # 3.
3.00am – 6oz of milk
8.30am – 6oz of milk
11.00am – 6oz of milk
1.00pm – porridge cooked with salmon, carrots, brocolli and anchovies
2.30pm – 4oz of milk
6.30pm – porridge cooked with sole fillet, spinach, carrots and anchovies
9.15pm – 2oz of milk
11.30pm – 4oz of milk
It’s the first and last time I’ll be using salmon in his porridge. We assumed that salmon is boneless and safe for baby’s consumption but it’s not true. There were 2 thick bones in his porridge today and because of that, we made him a separate pot of porridge for dinner. Didn’t want to risk feeding him a bone that’s invisible to our eyes.
About the anchovies, I bought baby anchovies and they were washed and put into the oven at 180 degrees celcius for about 15 to 20 minutes. After that, they were blended until powder form and stored in the fridge. A teaspoonful of it were mixed into the pot of porridge to give it some flavour not to mention the goodness of iron that it brings.
