It’s been a while since I gave the little boy a bath myself. During the weekdays, he gets his baths from the babysitter and normally during the weekend, it’s the daddy who bathes him. Reason being he’s so playful and active that I find it hard to control him and I’m afraid he may slip and fall if I don’t have a firm and proper grip of him. Especially so when we use the Eubos Cream Bath Oil (read my review of this excellent product) instead of the regular kiddie bath wash products. The bath oil is a lot more slippery considering that it is oil based.
This weekend, I decided to give it a try and bathe him myself after months of not doing so. I placed his bath tub on the floor and led him in by holding his hands. To my pleasant surprise, he sat still the entire time, and even wanted to help me shampoo his hair! Perhaps he too missed a mother’s touch during bath time? Haha, nah, I think it’s just me who think so!
I look forward to giving him more bathes in more weekends to come seeing that we both had fun chit chatting during his bath time and him wanting to get involved bathing himself too. It sure was fun for me. I’ve missed giving him a bath!
Oh and guess what? It was just as well too that I got back to giving him a bath this weekend, because it was then that I spotted a small moldy patch beginning to grow along the corner of the floor. The bathroom definitely needs a scrub with some mold killer. I can’t imagine if we have missed it and let the patch get bigger and gross!

Wow! Your hubby very good leh, can help to bathe your son… During the weekdays, my helper will bathes my boy.. During the weekends, I’ll try to take over… The bathing session is fun, but can be tiring cos they are so active at this age.. at times, I also lost control and I have to shout for help from my helper… haha!
I bath my girl every evening and weekends. Hubby only helps if I ask him to or if I am sick. My girl is so active now and will not sit still even for a min. One min she’s standing up, next min she’s drinking water from the tub, next min she’s biting the bath toy etc… I always end up wet myself
.
Can’t wait for the day when I can bath her directly using the shower… hehe
Emily, I guess boys will be boys huh. It gets rather difficult for the mothers to handle them! Thus the fathers and helpers come in useful! Hehehe…
Amy, oh my God, she’s sinking her head into the tub?! Maybe it’s a good time to send her for swimming lessons. I’m tempted but still unsure because I sense that my boy is a little bit afraid of water!
Hi Mom: a Dad here:
A few points:
I am not too sure how old your son is or the age of the sitter but I do have a few points to make.
Your son should not be bathed by a sitter who is not at least 16 years or older. Accidents can and do happen and young girls are not prepared for that eventuality. When your son reaches 5 or 6, he should have the ability to bath alone without a babysitter helping him-encourage his independence and his modesty. It should be kicking in about then.Anyways-boys are more subtle in making this clear so do listen and go with your instincts. There is a new report out about adolecent girl babysitters molesting young boys, it apparently is epidemic-so be very careful, if you would not want a male babysitter bathing your daughter at a certain age, do not allow a girl babysitter to do bath your son at a certain age.
Hi CaDad, thanks for the advise. I certainly never let a child handle bath time
And good thinking about keeping modesty for both boys and girls. Never thought of that.
