Buckle up!

by Penny on October 24, 2007

A couple days back, I went alone to pick up my baby from the babysitter’s. It’s a very short drive, just a bend away. When I put baby in his car seat, I thought it wasn’t necessary to buckle him in. For one thing, it really isn’t safe to hang out on the road side fastening the baby in because there are too many snatch thieves who ride pass with knives, ready to slash and rob their victims.

I made sure baby sat comfortably in his seat and I drove very slowly around the bend. But the active one decided to lean forward and when he saw my horrified expression, he laughed! I reached back with one arm to push him back into his seat but he thought I was playing with him and leaned forward more.

It was a terrifying moment for me as I drove the very short distance with him wanting to get up from the seat. From now on, no matter how short the ride, he is to be strapped in, safe and sound.
