When I was single, I used to think that I would not let my kids watch Barney because I thought the purple dinasaur is weird and eerie. Just look at his perpetual grin!

And then we did the “unthinkable” and let Ryan watch Barney a few months back. Since then, there was no turning back. He absolutely adores the shows and can watch it repeatedly everyday.
Over time, I did have a change of mind about the characters of the show. I do agree now that it’s pretty entertaining for kids and they do teach good values. The songs are also catchy and different from the regular nursery rhymes that we all grew up to learn.
What I can’t believe is happening is not so much that our little boy loves Barney, Baby Bop and BJ; that he’s got a complete collection of all those characters’ plush toys; that we’ve accepted Barney as Ryan’s top favourite show; that we’ve got to sit down to dinner listening to Barney and friends belting out the songs…but the fact that I was stuck with a Barney song in my head since last night till now!
Do you know what song that is? (Oh my God, that sentence sounds like what Barney would say!) Here it goes, the song that’s been in my head and on my lips…
If all the raindrops were lemondrops and gumdrops
Oh, what a rain that would be.
Standing outside with my mouth open wide
Ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh…
If all the raindrops were lemondrops and gumdrops
Oh, what a rain that would be…
If all the snow flakes were candy bars and milkshakes
Oh, what a snow that would be.
Standing outside with my mouth open wide
Ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh…
If all the snow flakes were candy bars and milkshakes
Oh, what a snow that would be.
Yupe, that’s the song that’s stuck in my head and I find myself singing it and worse yet, enjoying it even!! Unbelievable!

LOL…we are in the same boat. I used to be dislike Barney too, but fell in love with that purple dino when I became a mummy. Hey, that Raindrops song is my fav, too
Haha…at least you fell in love with it after becoming a mummy…I still find the purple dinasaur irritating!
