Confession of a shopaholic mummy

confessions of a shopaholic Confession of a shopaholic mummy

I’m back from our shopping trip to Bangkok. Before we left I looked forward to doing lots of shopping although I had no shopping list in mind. I just thought I’d just buy whatever catches my fancy.

From day 1 to the end of our stay, I bought very little for myself. The “winner” of the trip is actually my boy. He’s got so much to look forward to and I too look forward to handing him all the shopping one at a time just to give him time to enjoy all the goodies. We bought him clothes, shoes (which didn’t fit him unfortunately!), a pair of swimming suit, cap, toys, play watch, DVDs, etc.

It’s amazing how my shopping pattern have changed from buying most things for myself to now buying things for him and not bothering with my own. When it comes to shopping for him, I really brighten up and get so excited thinking how he would love this and that and can’t wait to show it all to him.

Even when we tell ourselves we’ve bought him enough and it’s time to shop for our own stuff, I still can’t help but to stop and look whenever something for him catches my eye. And that’s how we ended up buying so little ourselves and more for him. But it was very fun nevertheless!

We stayed in a serviced residence which came with everything we need to feel at home. It’s a nice place and one that I think is most suitable if we were to bring the boy to Bangkok one day. It’s got enough space for him to play about and a nice kitchen for us to dish up something simple for him if need be. It’s definitely recommended for family travel. I’ll be writing a review on it soon in my shopping blog.

During the trip I’ve missed my little boy very much. But at the same time, I’ve been bitten by the travel bug from this trip and I want more! However, I do feel bad about leaving the boy again, so if we do go anywhere again, I guess I can consider bringing him along. But that means getting to see and shop a lot less because I’m sure we’ll take breaks in between the day to let him have his proper rest and naps.

But then again, I did realise that this trip we aren’t so “all-out” anymore. I don’t know if it’s the age factor that’s making us tire faster and need more breaks in between. We shopped shorter hours at Chatuchak market, didn’t buy a single thing from Platinum plaza in Pratunam, didn’t bother with the happening street shopping and bars in the nights except for Suan Lum night bazaar and desperately needed massages to recuperate.

We even made trips back to the hotel to take a break which we’ve never done before! There was even one night where we spent the night in to watch DVD! Now to come and think of it, it makes me feel really old!

Fresh from the end of this vacation, my mind is still thinking of future destinations. I’ve missed traveling and perhaps this is a good time to fit in more travels before we get rooted down with more parenting responsibilities to come. You know, everyone is hinting at us that it’s time for Number 2 and if we do have a Number 2, traveling will be even more difficult. So, do you think I should quickly go places now?!

Hey, welcome back! looking forward to those photos.

Well on NUmber 2, if you ask me you have 2 choices:
a) quickly have another one now and get it over with. You can start travelling again 2 years later when Number 2 reaches a comfortable age to be cared for by someone else OR
b) go travel now and enjoy another year and then refer to a)
HAHAHA
