Then, the confinement lady we hired gave us a tip to keep our diaper expenses down. She suggested that we use a less expensive brand of diaper for day wear and keep the Mamy Poko ones for the nights. By the way, Mamy Poko is the most expensive diaper brand in the market. But rest assured that it’s value for money because it does keep dry for a longer period of time, normally up to about 4 hours. So it’s great for night use. The cheaper ones, on the other hand, last around 2 hours or so. It’s not all bad using a not so lasting diaper, though. It encourages you to change diapers often and this will keep baby’s skin healthier rather than to be wrapped up in soiled diapers. Though they may be dry and not irritating to baby’s skin, it’s still soiled. So keeping baby fresh is a priority.
We’ve experimented with many brands of diapers. Besides Mamy Poko, there has been Drypers, Pet Pet, Pampers, Huggies Dry Comfort, Huggies Dry and Huggies Ultra. Amongst these, I have found my favourites. For day wear, baby is clad in Huggies Dry and for night use, it’s Huggies Dry Comfort. I find Huggies Dry Comfort comparable if not better than Mamy Poko for durability and dryness.
One recent addition to our day and night diapers is “goinng out” diapers. Before, I’ve been using Huggies Dry Comfort on baby whenever we go out. Now I have switched to DryPantz from Drypers for ease of wearing as well as removing (DryPantz is a pull-up pants diaper). However, I find that DryPantz is not as lasting, averaging about 2 hours use before it’s time to change it. Huggies has some pull-up pants too, so maybe I will try those next time.

hie. same here.. i also use huggies dry during day time and huggies dry comfort during night for my son. though he doesn’t need to wear diapers during day time, he’ll wear huggies pull up pants when he goes out.. overall i felt that huggies’ quality and durability are satisfactory. and it’s rm0.15-0.18 per diaper compared to mamy poko which is so expensive..
Don’t know why we should be boosting a particular product, but guess it’s kudos for quality: We too have found Huggies to be highly satisfactory.
Wow. You’ve tried so many. For us, its only drypers for both the kiddoes from the time they were newborns (or rather right from birth) till they were toilet trained. And we were fortunate not to suffer a day of diaper rash. Drypers isn’t the most expensive brand but its still expensive to change often which we did but its worth it not to have to deal with rash.
Kenneth and Cloudsters, I guess we’re like-minded!
I’m a big fan of Huggies now. Definitely lots cheaper than Mamy Poko and they seem to have promotions more often, too.
Mumsgather, thanfully we’re done experimenting now! Haha. I agree, frequent changes are necessary. I think we should start baby on toilet training soon, too.
