Don’t put your child in a hot car

by Penny on October 29, 2008

It’s not just heat stroke that you should worry about when putting your child into a hot car. We also need to be careful about exposing the child to poisonous gases being released (you can read more about it from a recent post from Useful Tips For Life website).

Before I knew about this hazardous gas being released by some chemicals found in car interiors, I already found it very cruel to strap a child in a car that’s been under the sun for hours. It’s hot, it’s stuffy and you can actually feel the heat wave on a very hot day. Imagine what discomfort the child must feel.

And now that I’m made aware of this health hazard, all the more I’m not subjecting my boy to this condition. We’d just have to spend some time to cool the car before getting in. I know this is not something easily practised especially for parents who take their child out alone and are rushing for time. It’s also not too safe to be waiting by the roadside with on-coming cars zooming past. Besides, there’s also the threat of snatch thieves if you are seen lingering around by the roads, especially with a child under your care.

But do try as much as possible to avoid such health hazards. The world is becoming rather ridiculed with all sorts of things posing as a threat, from tainted milk to eggs and now even cars can be hazardous!
