Effects of baby sleeping in sarong

by Penny on February 21, 2008

Baby has difficulties learning to fall asleep on his own lying on the bed. He tends to be active, kicking and punching away or grabbing his pillow to play with. Put him on the bed and he’ll do anything but sleep.

So we resorted to let baby sleep in a sarong. He enjoys the rocking motion of the sarong and falls asleep easily in it. All sounds good to us. But he sleeps in it through the night. Is this something I should be concerned about, especially effects to his back if any?

Some websites said the sarong does no harm to baby’s back when sleeping in it. In fact, many believe that the sarong helps to give baby’s head a nice round shape as compared to a bed that tends to flatten it. I can attest to that but am still unsure about whether it is bad for his back bone development.

Anyone has any thoughts on this, please share.
