Guess what baby likes to watch?

by Penny on April 26, 2008

Since we were at Ikano Power Centre today, I decided to drop by Hytex Town to browse their VCD/DVD collection for babies. There’s a large TV screen there (I think it’s a 37″ TV) and they were playing some movie I hadn’t watched before.

I stopped baby’s pram some distance from the TV and thought I’d leave him there to watch whatever was shown on TV with daddy watching over him while I check out the collection.

Before I walked off, I took a peek at him and he looked so happy and engrossed watching TV! His facial expression was priceless, it was as if he understood what was going on. It made me laugh. I actually stood there to watch my son for a couple of minutes before I set off to look at those VCDs/DVDs!

To my disappointment, they didn’t have any Baby Einstein nor Veggie Tales which I was intending to get, as per my earlier post. What they did carry was some Sesame Street ones but I didn’t know which to get. Most of those Sesame Street ones seem to be catered for toddlers.

And then I found one which I thought would be suitable for a baby. It’s Elmo World. Flowers, Bananas & More! Although I wasn’t sure if he would be taken in by this, I bought it anyway. Compared to the Baby Einstein series, this is a lot less expensive, retailing at RM14.90 per VCD.

Elmo looks funny as a flower, doesn’t he?

After picking out the VCD, I walked back to see how baby was doing. He was still very engrossed by the show. His eyes were wide opened and he sat upright and leaned slightly forward in his pram. All the time, he never took his eyes of that TV. I decided to find out what movie they were playing that had him so interested. I checked with the sales assistant and proceeded to get a copy of it.

Take a guess what movie had my son so thrilled…This:

Dreamwork’s Bee Movie with voiceovers by Jerry Seinfeld and Renee Zellweger.

I guess it’s not such a bad idea buying this for him. I think the adults at home would be equally entertained by it, if not more. We’ll find out tomorrow if baby prefers Elmo or the bee…

hi, i m a mom of 2 boys, did u not have astro? playhouse disney is a very interactive n captivating channel for pre-schoolars.

my 1st son watch it when he learns to sit (4mths). n Elmo’s World is the 1st show he loves too.. same for my 2nd boy, both of them learn to say ‘big bird’ as their 1st recognizable words.

but mus control their tv watchin time, 30mins /day for below 1 yr old n gradually increase, otherwise too much tv will hurt their eyes n prevent them from learnin social skills, like talking! (learnt abt a child who dun like to tok in my son’s kindergarden cos he watch too much tv, even watches it in sch)

so the best toy is the world is their mummy ^_~ baby still likes to watch mummy talk n plays wif him.
