It’s a real pity to hear about the tainted milk issue in China

by Penny on September 17, 2008

As a mother, I’ve become more affected whenever I hear of news that relate negatively to the wellbeing of children. I guess it’s part of being maternal that has evoked this change in me.

The recent issue of the tainted milk formula in China has caused quite a stir worldwide. How could this have happened? As of today, the numbers aren’t getting any better. As we speak, 3 babies have died from this melamine poisoning and some 6,200 others sick.

It was scary enough to read forwarded emails about how China used cardboards to cook as food, make bamboo shoots out of chopsticks, etc. And now, they’re even doing harm to baby’s formula. I can’t imagine what people were thinking, just to make more money. Do they not consult their conscience before taking the step to cheat on people and hope they won’t be discovered? It’s plain silly.

The government is offerring free medical care to help the situation. I don’t see it as a form of help. This kind of thing should not have happened anyway. And yet it has, and the poor victims are innocent little children. What has the world come to….
