Making passport for baby

by Penny on February 25, 2008

You know, babies these days tend to be very much of a high-flyer compared to us when we were once babies. A few of my colleagues’ babies have been in the air not long after birth and a friend whose baby is just over a month old has already planned for a trip 2 months from now.

I was curious about how to go about making baby a passport. My colleague was kind enough to share with me that the Subang branch is normally less crowded for this purpose and that it would only cost half the price of an adult’s passport. All I need to bring are the identification card (MyKid) and the birth cert (if we have the MyKid, what’s the use of the birth cert huh?).

Baby needs to be photographed too and I was wondering how do you get a young baby who can’t even sit on his own, to do this. Not to mention that baby needs to handle the sudden flash when the camera clicks too. My colleague apparently didn’t have a problem with this. In fact, she had a fun time helping to prop and steady her daughter in preparation for the photography.

Since we have no plans in mind to take baby anywhere just yet, I shall not make baby undergo this (you may wonder if the trauma is more on the mother or the baby!). Well, if you have a story to share on how you did this without too much hassle, do let me know!
