Meet my boy, Ryan

by Penny on May 23, 2009

For as long as I’ve started this mummy blog from my Blogspot days to being self hosted now, I’ve never revealed the name of my son. Today, I’m changing all that. So here, meet the little love of my life, Ryan.

Ryan will turn two this August and I’m already very excited about his upcoming birthday plans. For his first birthday, we threw a small party at home, inviting only family members and some friends. I haven’t really thought about how to celebrate his second birthday.

You see, Ryan doesn’t quite have friends his age (and that’s one of the reasons why we keep telling friends who are close to us to hurry up and have kids! Haha!). At the babysitter’s place, he’s the only kid around so all he’s got all these while are adult company. It would be nice to set him down with other kids and let them play. But seeing that this isn’t going to be achievable just yet by the time he turns two, it looks like another gathering of adults at his birthday party!

Is that what other parents do as well, throw a grown-up party to celebrate a kiddie’s birthday?

Yes ah, the kid’s birthday is actually a day to celebrate YOU. So you deserve to have YOUR friends at his birthday. You have done a lot you know.

Yep! We threw kid-themed parties that grown ups would like for my son’s 1st and 2nd birthdays. Most people do…Can you imagine having 10 kids under 2 at you house? Wow. His 1st Birthday party was a cowboy themed party and we just had a BBQ, and the second party was Mickey Mouse themed and we all went to a mexican restaurant to eat. Very low key. But, at least my son likes the mariachi band!

Amy, yes it’s Ryan! :)

Busy Bee, your comment reminds me of what a teacher of mine once said. When we were singing Happy Birthday loudly in class to wish a classmate, she scolded us and lectured us on how the day is not hers but her mother’s instead!

Erin, wow, you sound like you throw some awesome parties! What’s more with all that theme, everyone’s got to love it :) Unfortunately we’re not going to be doing themes…unless everyone agrees to come in a Bob The Builder Theme party! Haha.
