Mummy or mama

by Penny on August 26, 2008

I personally prefer to be called mummy rather than mama. My little boy has learned how to say mummy and mama but I’m not sure if he knows both words mean me. If you ask him where mummy is, he would look or point to me. But not quite the same reaction when you ask him about mama.

You know, since I prefer mummy to mama, I’m not complaining much. But I wasn’t the first parent he learned to call. It was the father and he referred to him as papa. As much as the father would like to be daddy, I guess he has to be content that our litle boy called him first instead of me. But hey, I would rather be the second one and be mummy! ;)

Anyway, whether it’s mummy or mama at the end of the day, I would still be just as happy that he has now associated me with a word. He doesn’t call out these words often, but once in a while he does surprise me with a sweet mummy and it sends me to cloud nine!
