Over the weekend, we met up with friends and some of them have newborn babies in tow. In the midst of our conversations, and while my little boy was in the care of his daddy, I decided to pick up my friends’ babies. This set off a loud cry from my little boy as he looked on unhappily, obviously upset with me for even doing the unthinkable act of carrying another baby!
I think just over this weekend, he learned what it feels like to be jealous. I, of course immediately put down the babies I was carrying and hurried over to him to hug and soothe him. He did stop crying immediately once I came back to him. But he would never really let me out of his sight. And after twice of him being so upset with me carrying someone else, I quit trying to carry any other babies.
This isn’t quite the time for another baby to come along…it’s quite obvious, isn’t it?
So to everyone who’s asking us “When’s number two coming?”, we’re going to say “Number one is not ready!”

This is so true…
. I guess you’ll have to wait for the greenlight from him. As for me, mine doesn’t know what jealousy is yet..
Hmmm, i disagree on that. you hear me laughing … dont’t you? parents must make the little one share in the coming of another right from the start – even during the pregnancy. that he is also a part in what is to come
Amy, I guess the greenlight is easier to come by when he’s older or when he starts asking for a little brother or sister!
Yours will come to know it in time too.
Popo, I’m sure you disagree now is not the time! Hahaha…but now he’s too young to understand and be involved in preparing for a newcomer in the family…I bet you still disagree
