He’s been naughty and nice

by Penny on April 25, 2009

All week long, there was nothing that would put me in a better mood than to think about the weekend that would come. Finally, the weekend is upon us and all too soon, one day of the weekend is gone and over. Just like that. In a blink of the eye.

During the weekend, I have to say that my little one has been both naughty and nice. It’s typical for kids (or boys?) to be kinda naughty and stubborn at this stage, I hope…or am I the only one? The more we tell him not to do things we don’t want, the more he’ll do it. I get most upset with him when he purposely spills lots of water on the wood flooring in the room. It’s not just additional work for me to mop it up, I also have to be extra careful so that he doesn’t trip on the slippery floor afterwards and I’m one paranoid mother who’s very worried about him getting hurt in any way.

He’s also picked up an unfavourable phrase: “Go away!”. At first, when he just said it without much intonation, we thought it sounded cute. But then he started getting rude when he ordered people to go away in a harsh tone. Whilst he picks things up easily, I find that it’s hard for him to unlearn something. This is one of the things I’m trying to put a stop to but I don’t know when he’ll stop. I still haven’t quite succeeded in getting him to stop saying “Botak!” when he sees bald people!

But on a happier note, he has been very affectionate and sweet in his own ways. He’s been very sticky this week and also rather easily tickled which resulted in many moments of laughter in him which in turn made us laugh too. His speech ability has also been so amazing and we continue to be impressed as he dishes out more and more surprises.

I’ve also enjoyed many moments of pleasure just looking at his lit up and happy face whenever he gets a surprise gift. I’ve been introducing him to his new toys from my Toys R Us and Babyland shopping sprees. I really don’t know if those are his moments of happiness or mine. But does it matter, as long as someone is happy? :)

Tomorrow is another day to enjoy the weekend before we return to work and see less of him. We’ve got some plans for the day and I hope we will all enjoy every minute of our time together, be it naughty or nice times!

*I do not know what I am doing here at this time when I have work*

Anyway, I think what you have described is applicable for kids in general, boys in particular. My Ryan is testing me to my wits end EVERY single day. Dread to think what will happen when they become tweens and teens. Just wish they can skip this stage and go to the responsible, stop-bothering-me adult stage!!

But then again, they are so adorable – even when you are about to scream at them!!

My girl is just the same. So I don’t think it applies to only boys :-)

Her favourite thing to do now is ’shake her head’ as in NO when we ask her questions (any question) and she likes to touch things which I forbid her to touch. Whenever she goes near them, she will look at me first before touching macam trying to test my patience!

Minc, I couldn’t agree more no matter what rascals they turn into :)

Busy Bee, visiting blogs are ways to destressed ;) I’m sure when they have reached adult stage we as parents would look back and miss all their naughty and demanding moments. So must cherish all their naughtiness, true? Haha.

Amy, looks like baby girls also don’t spare their parents! Maybe these kids are also learning to see where our limits are. If they don’t test it, they won’t know it! :P
