"No more tears" or softer hair?

by Penny on March 19, 2008

From the time I was a kid right up to recently, I’ve always thought the best baby toiletries available in the market are from the Johnson & Johnson range. The famous baby shampoo with the tagline “no more tears” is a sticky one that stays in one’s head. It’s amazing how over the years, the packaging of this shampoo has never changed. Perhaps it is this yellow bottle that builds the brand. I suspect the reason why this shampoo is saleable is because of the well-marketed tagline.

The famous yellow bottle as we know it

Since I’ve been bought into the brand from my childhood days, it was not surprising at all that I bought nothing but the Johnson range for my baby. Everything from body wash to shampoo and powder is from Johnson.

Then, a few months ago when baby went for one of his well-baby checks at the paed’s, we were given some sample bottles of Johnson’s new range of product called Soothing Naturals. It costs a bomb compared to the generic one and I didn’t quite like the smell because it came across quite strong so I didn’t want to use it on baby. This is the first time I reject a Johnson product!

Since the “rejection”, it triggered a change of heart in me and I started eyeing the Sebamed baby range. It started with the paed’s recommendation to use the Facial Protection Cream on baby when he had some heat rash on the face. I find the product mild and suitable for baby’s skin. I also heard from my cousin who uses the baby Sebamed shampoo on her son that his hair has become nice and soft. She then started using it on her 3-year old toddler too. This so-called testimony from her interested me because baby’s hair feels a little rough.

Pretty oddly shaped bottle, but it’s what’s inside that’s more important, right?

So will it be “no more tears” or will it be softer hair? It wasn’t such a difficult decision because we carefully shampoo him all the time and have never gotten shampoo anywhere near his eyes…so softer hair it is!

So much for over 30 years of loyalty to Johnson…

Lol! Well, I’m using the no more tears one. Been using it since the two kiddoes were born. I’m very brand loyal. Hehe. BTW, thanks for adding my links to your blog. :)
