If you’re not a professional photographer, that is. I suspect most of us parents aren’t pro photographers. I do know of a handful of friends who are semi-pros and even less of them to be real pros. I do envy looking at the artfully taken shots of the semi-pros and pros of their beautiful kids!
As for us, we’ve got a pretty decent DSLR camera. But we aren’t doing it much justice because our photography skill is at best at the point-and-shoot level! We try. But we’ve never really taken the time to practise and learn to improve on our photography skill nor buying those better lens to make the pictures turn out amazing.
Even when armed with all that great equipment but without the skill and an eye for detail, we might not be able to capture the moments as nicely too. It really takes an imaginative and creative mind to snap clever and artistic shots. Not to mention if you have kids that can’t sit still for long, it’s going to be even harder to get a good shot. By the time you’ve got the angle right and ready to snap, the kid’s gone from the camera’s view!
I once happen to stumble upon a Naples photographer’s site and saw some very amazing pictures she took of her baby. Very inspiring for me to learn how to capture shots like that but lazy me just “Ooh” and “Aah” and that was it.
This is one of the latest shot we got of Ryan with his extremely short spiky hair (thank God that it grew fast enough from his almost bald hair cut!). Not pro of course, but we can’t complain with our very limited photography skill. Oh, did I mention the hardest part wasn’t the photography skill but to get Ryan to stay motionless?!
