Breaking out due to stress

pimples on the face 200x300 Breaking out due to stress

I think my latest acne breakout is due to 2 things, late nights and stress. I usually don’t suffer from bad acne problems but this time I have more pimples all at once and they do take a lot longer to go away. Whatever products that I normally use to get rid of those zits just don’t work anymore.

I was trying to find some solution to this and came across proactiv reviews. It’s supposed to be some powerful solution and has worked on many people. But reading the mixed reviews on the content of the product, I don’t really think I’ll go for it.

I guess I will still stick to what I have now and just make sure I cleanse more to keep the face clean and try to improve the quality of life. You reckon this will work?

Have you ever been in a similar situation? Any help and advise you want to offer to me?

A good friend of ours is expecting her first baby. Obviously she’s overjoyed and is experiencing all the magical moments of being pregnant. She’s even started to think about baby names without knowing the gender of the baby yet. I can relate to that :)

At the same time, she’s also thinking about how she’s going to lose the weight she’s gained over the last several months and even more to expect in the coming months. She asked me to share some tips with her but then I don’t think I can because I never really put on much weight during pregnancy.

So that’s why I thought of asking others who have some post-natal weight loss success stories to share their experience. Anyone out there can help?

How far would you go to age grarefully?

by Penny on January 20, 2010

Have you thought of this question before? The furthest I would go is to buy some anti-wrinkle creams to apply on the face, try to eat healthier and be a more confident person. I think aging gracefully is also about the character, not so much based on how you look physically, agree?

And yet, there are many who do go many steps further to try to age even more gracefully, to the point of trying to reverse this inevitable process of “maturing”. Some subject themselves to hgh pills which I’ve heard is not that great due to the side effects they have.

I seriously don’t think I mind very much as I age. I have a very positive outlook of what life is like when I’m in my 40s and even 50s. I look forward to seeing Ryan grow up to be a perfect gentleman, to watch him experience life lessons and even to the point of having his own family. You may think I think too far ahead, he’s only 2…well, I like day-dreaming, did I mention that? :)

Maybe with that kind of day-dreaming or having that so-called perfect picture of what life is like in my 40s and beyond, it doesn’t seem so scary to grow into that future life. It makes the process of aging a lot less scary and negative for me.

How far along do you think about your life?

What do you take for migrane?

by Penny on January 20, 2010

woman migraine 300x199 What do you take for migrane?

Just a quick post to ask if anyone knows of the best migraine treatments around? I sometimes get some pretty bad headaches, so bad that I think it’s migrane but the doctors often don’t agree. So I don’t get much help other than the usual Panadol pills. I tried using ActiFast from the Panadol brand too but when the headache is that bad, no amount of ActiFast help either.

So I was wondering if anyone has any suggestion on what to do to avoid headaches as well as to help ease the pain?

On a separate note, since the day Ryan was born, I have always wondered if babies do get headache. My mom seems to think they don’t experience any headaches at such a young age. Is that true? What do you think?

Change of learning curve

by Penny on January 17, 2010

Now that I’m in business for myself, I find that the things I learned while being an employee are useful but I still have a steep learning curve when being on my own. Most of the time I talk to lots of people and therefore need to be at least an interesting person to hold interesting conversations with all sorts of characters that I meet.

This didn’t occur to me until I met some interesting people and they started talking about things that I had no interest in but found that maybe I should read up some if not a lot of them just to be able to have smarter conversations. I’m not saying I have to be a miss-know-it-all, but it does help to know maybe a little of it and then apologize for not knowing the in-depth matter. I think it’s realistic for people not to know everything in-depth, don’t you think?

Some of the conversations that I came across involved financial issues like the Outer banks foreclosures, political opinions on our local as well as international governments, the issue of oil and gas and the speculation of when the resource will finally deplete. There are a couple more conversations regarding more trivial matters but I can’t figure out why they are of so much interests to some people.

I suppose the only way for me to know about a little of everything is to read lots. The only trouble with that is time. I don’t have enough time as it is trying to run 2 businesses, what more to spare some time to read about a little of everything. Perhaps when I become more settled in my work, and also not falling asleep together with Ryan at his bedtime, maybe I can squeeze in some good time for reading. After all I do love to read but have done very little of it in the last few years due to other priorities taking over my time.

What would you do if you were in my shoes? Would you care to read up on anything and everything or would you just tell the person you’re facing that you really have no idea on the matter they’re interested in and therefore let’s change the topic? :P

Have to learn more recipes

by Penny on January 17, 2010

Now that Ryan is growing and he’s learning to pick and choose his food, it’s time for me to learn more recipes. I’ve always been cooking him porridge, variations of them of course but in the end it’s still porridge. But now he sometimes asks for rice and noodles and I’ve got to figure out what kind of rice and noodles to cook for him.

I’ve not cooked in many years. Plus cooking for a kid is different from cooking for us adults. I try to think of using ingredients that are nutritious and being the lazy cook that I am, I try to dump in everything into the pan or pot and make it an all-in-one dish. But I realise as time goes by and he grows up, I don’t think I can do a one-pot dish anymore.

What do you other parents cook for your young toddlers? Do they eat what you cook for the family or do you cook separately for him like we do?

Sometimes it does get a bit difficult especially when we travel overseas. We’ve got to think of his meals as I don’t encourage him to eat outside food too much. I actually feel quite guilty if he has to eat 2 meals a day outside and have no home cooked food. That’s why if we travel, having an accommodation where there’s a kitchen available would be ideal.

So far we’ve found only 1 option, which is in Bangkok when we last went in May last year and stayed in Citadines. You can read the review that I wrote of the hotel too. Nice place and we enjoyed it very much.

For other places that I’ve been surfing about for accommodation options, I found some cheap hotels miami and even some bed and breakfast places in Europe to be cheap but don’t offer the kind of facilities I’m hoping to use. I guess in these places I’ve got to search harder. I do wish to bring Ryan to faraway places like these sometimes, maybe in 2 or 3 years time. But then you may say by then I won’t have to cook separately for him and it’s ok for him to eat outside food. Maybe, but who knows when this obsession of a parent will ever end huh?

But for now maybe I should concentrate on finding those recipes first before worrying about the vacation spots with kitchen facilities huh? Anyone has any to share with me?
