Selective memory when it comes to child birth

by Penny on April 17, 2010

I believe every mother has selective memory when it comes to child birth experiences. If we really recall every detail of the child birth experience, I think most mothers wouldn’t want to have their second or third or fourth, etc child. We have to admit it’s not the nicest of process to go through, right?

And yet, mothers all around the world plan on having more than one child in the family and I believe for many of them, they choose not to think about the unpleasant moments of delivering their babies so that they will be encouraged to have more children.

However, I’ve also heard from some mothers who voluntarily chose to deliver their babies C-section versus natural delivery. And for those, they think they have it easy, they don’t experience too extreme recovery period and they are fine having as many babies as they can possibly have and support. For these few mothers, I think they are lucky indeed. Incidentally, these are the same mothers who think nothing of underdoing bariatric surgery if they had to!

How about you? Are you the type who’s all for C-section or you’re for natural deliveries? If you are the latter, how do you cope with “forgetting” your previous experience so that it doesn’t deter you from wanting more kids?
