A simple hand sign goes a long, long way

by Penny on July 25, 2009

We’ve been toying around with Ryan lately in doing some hand signs. Well, basically just teaching him on using his fingers for coordination sake. So far he’s thrilled at learning and doing them and wherever we go and whoever we meet, he’s always eager to show some friendly hand signs.

Of all the simple ones we taught him, he’s found a sure winner amongst them. One that has won many hearts for him, and one that I personally find to be the universally accepted sign of friendship.

Here’s what my son goes around to show strangers he meets, never failing to be accompanied with a smile on his face:

thumbs up sign

Yes, just a simple thumbs up sign is all he does to get nods of approval, many more smiles back at him, and of course he gets back a thumbs up from whoever he shows it to.

Today he made a particular chef so happy when he very unexpectedly showed him the thumbs up after he was given his first spoonful of the food we ordered. He also made various security guards at malls smile when he walked past them and gave them the thumbs up. Even the babysitter was thrilled at getting a thumbs up from him for feeding him delicious and sweet grapes.

How could I ask for more? I’m the proudest mother of all!

Hehehe… I know what you mean. Try teaching him the ‘OK’ sign. Hayley makes the cutest OK sign…

Oh that’s one sign I haven’t taught him yet. Didn’t think of it! Okay will try it next! Haha, I’m sure whatever Hayley does, it’s always the smartest, cutest and loveliest in the parents’ eyes. Can’t help it right? :)
