Every night when we put the little boy to bed, we would sing him nursery rhymes. That’s when he would request for specific songs. The private Billboard Top 5 songs include (in no particular order):
1. Inke inke star (Twinke, Twinkle Little Star)
2. ABC (A,B,C)
3. Oh Oh Man (This Old Man)
4. Kip Kip (Skip, Skip, Skip To My Lou)
5. Fish (One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Once I Caught A Fish Alive)
Currently, his hot favourite is Twinkle Twinkle Little Star because he has learned how to sing it. Well, ok not exactly singing the whole song. At this stage, he’s very proud to be able to contribute one word at a time in the lyrics of the song. All we do is to sing him each line of the song and he will end that line with the last word, like this:
Mummy or daddy: Twinkle, twinkle little…
Boy: tar… (star)
Mummy or daddy: How I wonder what you…
Boy: Arr…(are)
Mummy or daddy: Up above the world so…
Boy: Hi…(high)
Mummy or daddy: Like a diamond in the…
Boy: Kai…(sky)
Mummy or daddy: Twinkle, twinkle little…
Boy: tar… (star)
Mummy or daddy: How I wonder what you…
Boy: Arr…(are)
Mummy, daddy and boy: Clap, clap, clap, clap, clap…
Mummy and daddy: BEAM BEAM BEAM!!!
Boy: GRIN GRIN GRIN!!!
Ahh, how I love being a mother!

My daughter the ‘unique’ one doesn’t like signing or reading before bedtime. She prefers to talk to her bear and kangaroo
. Once I attempt to read to her, trying to instill the reading habit and she will just stand at the cot and refused to sleep.
So this mummy didn’t get to sing all those Top Hits.. hehehe
It’s good that she doesn’t have to depend on you to read or sing for her to fall asleep…it’s quite hard work for the mummy. Especially if you’re tired after a long day…
Ya that is so true. I normally reach home 7pm and after doing the routine stuff with Hayley (bathing, fruits, play/TV and milk), I am all EXHAUSTED!
