My son the mummy protector!

by Penny on February 6, 2009

Last night we were playing with the little boy. He half sat on my lap and his daddy pretended to want to catch him. Each time the daddy’s hands came near to him, I would pretend to swat them away and he would be thrilled. At the end of the game, the daddy brushed his hand against my cheek. To my little boy, he thought that his daddy had hit me. Guess what he did?

He got up from my lap and threw the toy car in his hand at his daddy! He also had a rather serious expression on his face, looking at his dad all the time, eyes never leaving him. He then took a few more steps towards the father and hit him! That’s when I realised he was trying to “protect” me and it was the sweetest thing!

I went to him and told him that his daddy didn’t hurt me, that we were all playing. Hearing that, his demeanor changed and was back to us usual smiley and playful self.

It warms my heart to know that though he’s so little, he would stand up for me. I think in his mind, no one else can bully his mummy other than him. And guess what else? The mummy doesn’t mind that too! :D

The mummy definitely melted…not the innocent daddy though! Haha. Now he’s definitely labelled a mummy’s boy!

Ai-Ling, this incident suddenly reminded me of what my gynae said when I was pregnant. He said I’m lucky to have a boy because I will always have someone to protect me. Now I believe him! :)
