Don’t get me wrong, I think I’m a pretty good driver. Just that when I drive the family car which is a bigger car, I don’t seem to be able to estimate distances well. Since we got the car, I think I’ve caused several damages to it already.

The most recent few times that I drove it, I scratched the tire as well as the rims. Ouch!! I’m not the one paying for those replacement tires but I know they aren’t cheap. Luckily we don’t own a 4-wheel drive where we probably have to maintain an extra tire and we’ll have to fork out more for a 5th wheel warranty.

Because of my clumsiness when driving the family car, I prefer not to drive it when I go out alone with Ryan. Although he’s a really good boy and doesn’t distract me while I’m driving and he stays in his car seat, I still don’t feel as steady.

Looks like the next time I change cars, if I decide to, I won’t be opting for another family car. I feel in total control when driving my own car, maybe because I’m so used to it. It’s like that isn’t it, once you get used to the car, it feels like second nature when you’re behind the wheels. So really, I’m not such a terrible mummy-driver…when you see me on the road, no need to avoid me OK?

Is it weird that Ryan is about to turn 3 years old this year and he’s only now getting his very own bed? Well it’s been great having him by my side every night since he stopped sleeping in the sarong.

The daddy got him an Elmo bed frame and we had to get it custom made a little bit to make the length longer so that he can use the bed for a longer period of time. If we don’t, we can’t imagine how soon he will outgrow it, since he’s now 98cm tall and the length of the bed is only 120cm.

Now that we’ve got that done, we are waiting for his custom made mattress to be done too. It’s an odd sized bed (odd size in this country, apparently it’s a regular size in the West) so we’ve got to get a mattress done for the irregular size too.

But it won’t be too long before we’ll be able to get it all settled and set up. By then, I know I will miss sleeping next to my little boy every night. Sometimes after a hard day’s work , I feel good going to bed lying next to him. Most times, before I fall asleep, I would look at him sleep and plant kisses on him and just enjoy the moment.

I guess it’s all part and parcel of kids growing up and parents have to deal with some separation anxiety at each stage, right? Well I’ll start to deal with it now. For tonight, I’m going to sit in front of the TV and binge on chips. How’s that for dealing with separation anxiety? Haha…not a very smart move I must say. Gotta find some fat burner later

Anyone has such anxieties too? Or did your baby already sleep on separate beds since he/she was much younger?

Yesterday while I was getting Ryan ready to go to the babysitter, I suddenly had the feeling of wanting to spend more time with him. And it was an impulsive thing, not something I would like to plan for the weekend. So I made up my mind in less than half a minute since having that feeling that I would pick him up early from the babysitter’s place and we will have a day out.

He seemed cool about it, perhaps not as excited as me. I told him to make sure he takes his afternoon nap early so that I can come and pick him at by 4pm. He agreed. But when 4pm came, he had only just fallen asleep when I reached the babysitter’s house to pick him up.

I didn’t have the heart to wake him up since he had just slept for a few minutes. So I sat around and chatted. Finally he stirred and I decided to wake him up for our day out. He seemed to be in a jolly good mood even when being woken up. After he freshened up, we headed out.

I told him I will buy him ice cream and he was happy about that. But he said let’s visit the toy store first so we hit the stores to check out toys. He loves browsing and playing with the toys at the shops but he doesn’t really bug me to buy anything for him, even if he seemed fixated on some of them.

After walking through aisles of toys, he was glued to a flat screen TV which was playing Barney. He stayed for a while to watch, as if he’s never watched them before. So I just let him since we weren’t rushing anywhere. That’s the beauty of mother and son day out, we don’t have anything to rush for so we can spend all the time doing whatever we wanted.

Then we headed to Baskin Robbins for the promised ice cream. He loved the cone more than the ice cream itself, that funny boy. Satisfied with the treat, we walked about some more before the daddy came to join us for dinner. The daddy didn’t make in time for the ice cream treat, but it’s just as well because he’s on a diet and wouldn’t want to spoil it and then look for the best diet pills for men.

By the time we headed home, we were a happy bunch who had a great day. It was truly a great day out for me, and I love the freedom of being able to just decide a mother and son day on the spot without having to plan a day to take leave or just leave it till the weekends. Life is great!

This morning when we woke up and were lazing in bed, I said to Ryan “I love you, Ryan” to which he replied “I love you, Spidey-Girl”.

That really tickled me pink. Well I guess it’s a compliment because he adores Spider Man and keeps pretending to be Spidey whenever he plays. So to be officially called Spidey-Girl, it must be good.

I like Spidey-Girl more than Cow-Girl as in Toy Story’s Jessie. Spidey seems much cooler although I gotta say the Cow-Girl outfit seems prettier than that spider suit, not to mention complete with smart riding boots and all.

Well that’s a great start to the day…hope the rest of the day goes well for Spidey…off to work now!
