I’ve been talking about setting my goal to bring Ryan to Disneyland next year, preferably to one that speaks in English so that means Disneyland in the USA. Then when I recently learned about the Universal Studios that just came up in Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore, I’m tempted to set another goal to bring Ryan there this year.

Before this, I’ve been toying with the idea of bringing him to the petting zoo in Singapore as he loves animals. Then the Resorts World Sentosa added more reasons why we should head to Singapore. So many great attractions in one place and best of all, a place close enough to home.

Has anyone been to Universal Studios Singapore before? Anyone care to share your experience and feedback? The one thing that I couldn’t find on their website is the price of the entry ticket. I bet it isn’t cheap and that’s why they don’t bother to list it on the site?

I’m also wondering if it is a suitable theme park for a 2+ year old as I found that many of the attractions are in the form of rides. I’m just worried that most of them are roller coaster types and that means Ryan can’t really go on those rides as he will be too young. Plus, this mummy won’t want to go on those roller coasters too. I find that as age catches up with me, I have a more faint heart for such rides. If I do go on these rides, I better go get some free insurance quotes first!

Even if we skip Universal Studios, there are other attractions like the Marine Life Park, Maritime Xperiential Museum and Festive Walk within Resorts World Sentosa itself. Wonder how many days one should spend just at Resorts World itself to get the most of all the attractions.

In the last one week when work has been busy, I suddenly got bitten by the travel bug. I now long for a family vacation…maybe it’s the fact that I need not apply for leave and can go anytime I want! Having said that, it’s not exactly anytime for me too, as I need to first establish the business I’m in. But it sure makes planning a bit easier not having to juggle annual leave with timing of promotional air fares and hotels, etc.

Since the year started, I have been talking with Ryan about Disneyland. I told him that I want to bring him to see the “real” Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck and that they are found at Disneyland. I said I’ll bring him next year. I feel it is achievable if I work at it now and make sure I verbalise it too so that I will keep working on it and not forget it so easily.

So everyone reading this post will be my witness for this goal ahead ya? If I don’t talk about going to Disneyland next year, prompt me and make sure I go!

I would choose the original Disneyland to go to in the US if I can. And since I’ve never been there, it’ll be nice to do a tour in the country before we make the long journey back home. I’ve heard that Outer Banks is quite a nice and quiet place to visit and there are the occasional promotional Outer Banks vacation rentals I’ve heard of. Then of course there’s Las Vegas too but with Ryan around, maybe it’s not the best place to go to for now.

Did you enjoy the long Raya break? I certainly did. We went down south to visit some relatives whom we have not seen for about half a year. We don’t often head there to see them and this long break was a good time. Luckily the jams weren’t too bad. We saw an accident that occurred on the opposite side of the road on our way back and the jam was getting horrid! Did you get stuck?

Anyway, this trip has made me realise something…that when we travel to a place where we don’t have the comforts of having some of Ryan’s extra clothing, diapers and toiletries around, we really have to pack a full bag for him! Not only that, when we went to bed at night, we realised that the room we stayed in didn’t have any small light that we can keep on for the night. We usually do that at home.

So the next time we travel to a new place, I know better on what I really need to pack along. It’s during times like these that I suddenly realise that having a recreation vehicle (rv) may not be such a bad idea. Imagine if you have a caravan and it’s home-like with all the things you need. So wherever you go, you’d never be out of place or out of home, including using a bathroom that is yours!

Ok, I have a weird thing about needing a familiar bathroom, but maybe I’m not the only one. I’m not fussy about beds and thankfully neither is Ryan. But still, it’s a luxury to have an rv now so that we can do more road trips in comfort. So anyone has any used rv for sale or some that you know of?

I was actually quite excited with the fact that Ryan is growing up and becoming more travel-friendly. I thought we can then make better use of his passport and bring him to see new places. But with the influenza A H1N1 now being a pandemic, it’s pretty much hampered my hopes of going for holidays with Ryan. I simply dare not go anywhere for the rest of the year. You just don’t know who’s on board the plane and whether the country you are in is truly safe.

I don’t even dare to go for local destinations, in case those places are also frequented by tourists. So it looks like a quiet year with no where to go. At least until this whole flu threat has died down. I wonder when it will start to be well curbed from spreading though. I heard on the news yesterday that the first vaccination will only be available by middle of next year. That’s still a year away and it’s pretty far off, don’t you think?

It’s too bad that here in Malaysia we’re not into recreational vehicles (RV) like caravans. Otherwise it might be doable to do some kind of simple vacations in them. I think those are quite good to have around because you have most of the comforts of “home” in there and you don’t need to spend too much money paying for accommodation wherever you end up as your holiday destination for the family. Some of these caravans are really nice and cosy, like the one pictured below.

Why doesn’t anyone introduce these vehicles here, huh? If they do come to our shores, I feel that the demand for them would be quite incredible. Not only will the sellers make money selling them, even banks that offer rv finance will be happy! I will be one of the first to convince my friends that these are great family assets to have!

Anyway, since we’re far away from having any caravan and H1N1 vaccination in sight, I think I shall start putting away my thoughts for holidays and start focusing and looking forward to something else. Haven’t a clue what it is just yet…

We’re back from our short breakaway. We went back to Ryan’s grandparents’ place down south and as always, we eat and eat to our heart’s content while there. Food is always good not to mention more affordable than in KL. Even Ryan was having lots to eat, although not his own home cooked food. Nowadays he prefers to eat what we eat instead of his porridge.

Other than just eating our main meals, we also bought lots of tid bits and fruits. You see, this time around my mom came with us and we brought her to the more “touristy” places to buy the local biscuits and snacks. We normally don’t visit these stores but since we were there, we also ended up buying. Then, mum got thrilled by some very healthy looking local fruits too so we also ended up buying lots of fruits.

We even bought back lots of goodies for Ryan’s babysitter. We feel the need to feed everyone with just as much food so that if we put on weight, everyone does as well! Haha. Nah, just kidding. If people we are feeding are putting on weight, then maybe we’ll thrown in some appetite suppressants in the bags of food we give to them next time!

After a good weekend it’s going to be difficult to get back to work tomorrow. How? I’m no where near my dream of becoming a SAHM!
