One night while we were having dinner, the boy was quite engrossed in watching TV. As usual, he preferred to watch my Wah Lai Toi channels than his own Disney Playhouse, so I just let him watch some TVB drama series.
He watched intensedly at a scene where 2 men were fiercely arguing with each other and this was the conversation that took place between us:
My boy, while pointing at the TV: Uncle scold Bang Bang (he refers to policeman as Bang Bang)
Me: Oh is it?
Boy: Mmm (affirmative)
Me: So Bang Bang how?
Boy: Bang Bang die!

And this was my silent reaction…
No, the policeman did not die nor was he even physically hurt. It was just a heated argument between the characters. So when he said the “Bang Bang die”, I really wonder what he meant, whether he knows the meaning of the word die.
We’ve never taught him the word die, nor do I recall ever using that word when speaking with him. It’s just amazing that he can relate anger to death!
